Rihanna may legally semi-forgive — and even follow on Twitter — but as is clear in her new video, she doesn’t easily forget.

Or so it seems, anyway.

Years after her disgusting beating at the hands of ex-boyfriend Chris Brown, the Barbadian popstar released her newest music video on Tuesday, for the violent single “Man Down.” The video gives quite a literal interpretation of the lyrics, featuring her, while living on a Caribbean island, getting abused by a boyfriend — and then taking the ultimate revenge.

The song has a sort of law and order beat to it, the desperation and sadness in her voice obvious. It’s an interesting counterpoint to her recently released video ballad, “California King Bed,” which focuses on the much more hopeful side of love.
