Chris Brown doesn’t have to stay away from Rihanna anymore after a judge on Tuesday downgraded a restraining order in the singer’s felony assault case.
Superior Court Judge Patricia Schnegg’s ruling came after an attorney for Rihanna said she didn’t object to removing the stay-away provisions of an order issued after Brown pleaded guilty to beating her in February 2009. The old order required Brown to stay 50 yards away from Rihanna, but the restriction was reduced to 10 yards if they were at a music-industry event.
The judge said she never would have considered relaxing the order without Rihanna’s consent and until Brown completed domestic violence counseling. Prosecutors did not object to the change.
Schnegg praised Brown, who was in the court Tuesday and left holding a one-page copy of the new order. She noted he continues to make progress on completing the physical labor requirements of his probation and said the R&B singer does not have to attend a June 22 progress report hearing.
The new order remains in effect until August 2014 when Brown’s probation is scheduled to end.
He and Rihanna, 23, can now see and speak to each other. But if Brown harasses, threatens, assaults, or tracks his ex-girlfriend’s movements, he could be found to be in violation of his probation.
Rihanna, whose real name is Robyn Fenty, can record any threatening conversations with Brown and present them as evidence to authorities.
Her attorney, Donald Etra, said he thought the new order was adequate protection.
Brown, 21, was charged with felony assault for the February 2009 fight in which he repeatedly struck Rihanna in a rented car after they left a pre-Grammy Awards party. Both entertainers missed that year’s awards show, although both have had renewed success in their careers since the incident.
Both Brown and Rihanna were nominated for Grammys this year, and she performed during the glitzy awards ceremony. Brown did not attend the show, but performed on Saturday Night Live a day earlier.
The rap diva claims to have sold 113,000 copies of the $9.99 release via PayPal within 28 hours, but some have questioned the authenticity of those numbers. The Queen Bee stings back at the critics and Nicki Minaj in an exclusive interview with Rap-Up.com.

Right now it could be more.
What do you say to those who question the authenticity of those figures?
At the end of the day, you’re always going to have your haters. We need the haters. There was actually a representative at PayPal who basically didn’t really confirm or deny it, but also [said] that they’re very happy and proud of the success of Lil’ Kim. I think numbers in other areas speak for themselves. I mean, why aren’t they questioning the Black Friday being at 2.5 [million views] in less than 18 hours? Why aren’t they questioning that? What’s the difference? How can you add up one thing and not the other? I just feel like people pick and choose the area that they want to attack [laughs].
Do you know the current sales numbers?
No, I actually don’t know right now. I have a team that kinda checks up on all that. We’ll keep you posted.
Nicki Minaj laughed off your sales claims. Did you see that?
I heard about it. I didn’t see it actually for myself, but to be honest with you, homegirl is basically obsolete to me right now. She’s doing a lot of lame stuff. She’s so lame to me right now—she’s always been, but now really. At the end of the day, her sales can be questioned also. Not to say she didn’t have the build-up, but the only thing you kept hearing before her album dropped was nobody liked it, it was wack. Don’t get me wrong, she might have a couple songs that are OK, but who cares. The haters will be haters, that’s their job, and we need them.
Kim dropped this diss track last November to put full fuel into the Nicki Minaj feud, and now that her Black Friday tape is out for sale, the official music video for the same titled track is up and aimed for full insult.
This thing hurrr…..begins with with the camera following a trail of black blood and Queen Bee tromping over a red wig, as if that isn’t morose enough, and goes on to show a Nicki impersonator trying to mimic Kim’s image, posing to copy past photoshoots, and gaggling at Kim’s music videos on Youtube. Continuing on, a dog can be seen chomping on a Nicki doll, tearing away ass-implants accessories, and the video simply concludes with all of the Kim Lambo, bottles, and street romping filler. Needless to say, it completely decapitates the pink princess of MTV, and defines Queen Bee as the epitome of evil….Thoughts?

Lil Kim is declaring victory over her rival Nicki Minaj now that she claims she moved 113,000 copies of her mixtape in less than 28 hours.
As previously reported, Kim released her mixtape filled with digs at Minaj Tuesday that included a cover of the Young Money emcee headless while Lil Kim sat by with a samurai sword.
According to Kim her bloody cover and diss tracks worked because she sold over 100,000 copies of the new mixtape.
Kim took to her Twitter page to announce the news saying,
“Thanks to you guys!! #lilkimblackfridaymixtape sold over 113,000 copies making me the #1 seller on Paypal ever =) !!! THANK YOU!”
The mixtapes are being sold for $9.99 and physical copies will be shipped in 1 to 2 business days.
If Kimberly’s calculations are correct then she would have made over $1 million off her mixtape sales.
Many people find that hard to believe including Nicki Minaj herself who sent out a subliminal message last night saying,
Fantasia Barrino wasn’t feeling the R-E-S-P-E-C-T, and this is what it meant to her: boycotting the Grammys.
The American Idol winner appeared on BET’s “106 & Park” on Monday to explain her Grammy absence, which became conspicuous after she was not there to accept her award for Best Female Vocal Performance. Turns out that not getting asked to join the opening number tribute to her idol, Aretha Franklin, led Barrino to stay home and watch on TV.
“I’m kind of going through my own little thing,” she told the show’s hosts (via The Hollywood Reporter). “Last night they were honoring someone who is my idol, Aretha Franklin, and there is no way I could have sat there and not got the happy feet and wanting to jump on the mic because she is my favorite so I felt like, you know, at the end of the day I should have been on that stage so, I kind of did my own little thing last night.”
Instead, it was Christina Aguilera, Jennifer Hudson, Florence Welch, Yolanda Adams and Martina McBride that sang a medley of Franklin’s biggest hits.
Barrino will at least get to do a full out tribute to another one of her idols — she’s been cast to play R&B legend Mahalia Jackson in an upcoming movie, a role she’s already preparing for by working to gain 30-45 pounds.
The Grammy win (for her song “Bittersweet” and her first in 11 tries) and movie role are a nice turnaround for Barrino, who tried to commit suicide this summer after an affair scandal became public and rocked her life.

The People’s Champion is back.
The Rock, a nine-time WWF/WWE champion and fan-favorite legend, is returning to host “Wrestlemania XXVII.” He announced his return on WWE Raw on Monday night in a short video that electrified the pro wrestling world.
“The most electrifying man of all of entertainment is hosting the most electrifying event of all of entertainment!” he exclaimed in a behind-the-scenes video. He brings back his self-important persona, third person references, self-proclaimed “People’s Champion” title and, of course, The People’s Elbow.
The Rock, of course, is the wrestling persona of Dwayne Johnson, the one-time college football player and now movie star. Since leaving wrestling, he’s been a consistent action movie performer, drawing big box offices for “The Mummy Returns,” “The Scorpion King,” “Doom,” and comedies such as “The Game Plan,” “Tooth Fairy,” and “The Other Guys.”
Famed fashion photographer David LaChapelle is suing Rihanna. According to Reuters, LaChapelle claims that the pop star based her controversial video “S&M” on eight of his photos.
In the lawsuit made public Monday, LaChapelle says, “The music video is directly derived from and substantially similar to the LaChapelle works.”
Days after the video was released, LaChapelle accused Rihanna via Twitter of using his ideas without his consent. “The next time you make a David LaChapelle music video you should probably hire David LaChapelle,” the photographer wrote. Perez Hilton, who appears in the video which attacks media outlets for negative coverage of the “Only Girl (In The World)” singer, posted a copy of the tweet which has since been deleted from LaChapelle’s Twitter page.
LaChapelle has directed dozens of music videos, including Britney Spears’ “Everytime,” Christina Aguilera’s “Dirrty,” and Gwen Stefani’s “Rich Girl.”
In one of LaChapelle’s photos, a woman lays on a gurney and is attended to by a staff of clowns. By comparison, the Melina Matsoukas-directed video features the Barbados native resting on a desk, surrounded by clowns that happen to be reporters.
Another LaChapelle photo features a group of women with poufy red hair, romping around a room decorated with bright pink and white striped wallpaper and matching furniture. In a scene in Rihanna’s video, she’s also wearing big red hair and playing around with lady friends in room with hot pink and white striped wallpaper, and black and yellow pictures on the wall.
Each image uses a similar forced and distorted camera perspective. According to LaChapelle, the “S&M” video duplicated the “composition, total concept, feel, tone, mood, theme, colors, props, settings, decors, wardrobe, and lighting” of his images.
The damages LaChapelle seeks have not been specified.
Before LaChapelle expressed his frustration with the short, “S&M” had already sparked controversy because of its overtly sexual content. Matsoukas said she was not bothered by criticisms. “The song is called ‘S&M,'” she told MTV. “So I think that the imagery follows suit with what the song is. I wouldn’t play down the imagery for a song that’s so strong. It makes sense to develop it further and really take it there.”
A spokesperson for Rihanna has not yet responded to Yahoo! Music’s request for a statement.
Mr. Bow Bow Bow has been named the new face of animal rights group PETA (People for Ethical Treatment of Animals) and will appear in an upcoming “Ink Not Mink” campaign naked.
Launching on February 22, Waka will be joining PETA’s “Ink Not Mink” campaign in Los Angeles, CA alongside Lady Gaga, Pink, and Mariah Carey, Flame’s publicist, Kali Bowyer said. When commenting on his involvement with PETA, the 1017 Brick Squad rep told XXL, “Animals should be treated the same as you would a kid. Would you want someone just to walk up and skin your kid? H*ll no!”
Waka will also be bearing his own skin. “He wasn’t shy about agreeing to go naked to bring attention to the fur industry,” Cho revealed in an interview. “We’re all huge fans of his music — I did some research online and I didn’t see any photos of him wearing fur. PETA reached out to him with a request to start our ‘Ink Not Mink’ campaign, and come to find out, Waka doesn’t even wear leather.”
