Popular social networking site Twitter has become the battle ground between superstar rapper 50 Cent and singer Ciara as the two have been having a war of words regarding one another and their fans.
It’s reported that it was started when Ciara responded unpleasantly to one of 50 Cent’s pictures featuring the music mogul with Playboy Magazine’s chief Hugh Hefner. 50 didn’t like Ciara’s comment and reportedly started a mini war.
The two continued to trade insults and barbs often using the “B” word. Fans watched as the two stars had at it with one another and then 50 Cent decided enough was enough and told Ciara to “Cut it out.”.
Fans will be sitting by patiently to see if the conflict continues and it’s sure to raise the publicity level and should it convert into more Twitter fans and record sales don’t be surprised if more Twitter fights break out.
Nicki Minaj has revealed that she “gets romantic” with rumoured love interest Drake in the video for her new track, Moment 4 Life.
The promo, which is premiering Stateside later today, shows the Check It Out rapper marrying Drizzy, with Minaj admitting that the video has a “romantic storyline.”
Now I myself would consider Jennifer Hudson, she would be good to play Aretha. She has the voice and we know she can act. But when Aretha Franklin announced earlier in January that a film about her life was finally geting made, she asserted that Halle Berry would be playing lead. On Golden Globes Sunday, Berry said she didn’t have the vocal chops to do the role justice…. but that’s not stopping Franklin from wanting her for the role.
Franklin wrote in to the Wendy Williams Show on Monday, the site of her original announcement, to appeal to Berry to reconsider. Williams read the note aloud, which said, “Many actors have portrayed vocalists by lip-synching to the artist’s original recordings,” Franklin wrote.
Berry has yet to respond, though HuffPost Blogger Morris O’Kelly thinks that she is, in fact, perfect for the part.
Can’t a lady MC just spit anymore? With all the beefing going on between Nicki Minaj, Lil’ Kim, Foxy Brown and now, even Jackie O, lost in the shuffle is veteran rhymer Rah Digga.
The Dirty Harriet star recently headlined an all-ladies lineup in Los Angeles and next month she’ll bring her talents to Brooklyn for a “Ladies First” show at Southpaw, alongside underground Toronto lyricist Eternia.
“To be honest, if you’re an artist and you’re just into the music, all that [beef] stuff is irrelevant,” Digga told Mixtape Daily. “All that stuff they’re fighting for has nothing to do with making good music or being an artist. It is what it is. It’s a fight about being a popular celebrity. It has nothing to do with music. And I don’t get caught up in that and I don’t deal with anybody in it.”
Instead, the New Jersey native continues to craft her well-received bars. The former Flipmode Squad member put out her Nottz-produced Classic LP last year, which was the first album by Digga since her 2000 debut. In the time elapsed since Dirty Harriet, the roaring female MC took up another trade and learned film editing at Manhattan’s New York Film Academy.
Now, with backing from a new label, Raw Koncept, and one release already out, Digga promises a follow-up (and mixtape) are coming sooner than expected.
“[Classic] was just an album that I wanted to do,” she explained. “I didn’t have any A&Rs in my ears. I put it out with Nottz and there it was. I think a lot of artists really don’t have that luxury, ’cause they’re too busy having to follow the label protocol and stuff. It’s one thing when you’re coming into the game and making music and trying to find your footing in the industry, per se. So you roll with the punches, which is part of what I did with Dirty Harriet. Not the music. But the ‘I don’t care about going platinum in the first week.’ I had other stipulations that I wasn’t budging from.
“You won’t have to wait another 10 years, I promise,” Digga added about her follow-up.
An Ohio mother of two was sentenced to 10 days in jail and placed on three years probation after sending her kids to a school district in which they did not live. Kelly Williams-Bolar was sentenced by Judge Patricia Cosgrove on Tuesday and will begin serving her sentence immediately.
The jury deliberated for seven hours and the courtroom was packed as the sentence was handed down. She was convicted on two counts of tampering with court records after registering her two girls as living with Williams Bolar’s father when they actually lived with her. The family lived in the housing projects in Akron, Ohio, and the father’s address was in nearby Copley Township.
Additionally, Williams-Bolar’s father, Edward L. Williams, was charged with a fourth-degree felony of grand theft, in which he and his daughter are charged with defrauding the school system for two years of educational services for their girls. The court determined that sending their children to the wrong school was worth $30,500 in tuition.
When I read about this case, a few thoughts went through my mind. First, it’s clear that the court is trying to make Kelly Williams-Bolar into an example. Even the judge in the case, Patricia Cosgrove, said that her sentence was appropriate ”so that others who think they might defraud the school system perhaps will think twice.”
Secondly, it’s interesting how courts find it convenient to make someone into an example when they happen to be poor and black. I’d love to see how they prosecute wealthy white women who commit the same offense. Oh, I forgot: Most wealthy white women don’t have to send their kids to the schools located near the projects.
Third, I’m not sure why the court is treating this law-abiding mom like a thug who ran into a building with a shotgun and robbed the district of $30,000. Instead, they could simply subtract the amount it costs for her kids to go to the second school from the amount that would be spent for them to attend the first one. I’m sure the difference would still be substantial, since American educational apartheid dictates that schools in poorer neighborhoods are of significantly less quality than other schools. The racial divisions within American schools are nothing less than a blatant and consistent human rights violation and should certainly be treated as such.
A final interesting blow by Judge Cosgrove that reflects the experience of marginalized African Americans in the criminal justice system relates to Williams-Bolar’s quest to obtain a teaching degree. The single mother was in school studying to become a teacher so that she could create a better life for her girls. But that won’t happen for her family now, given that the judge has all but shut the door on her chance to fulfill her dream:
”Because of the felony conviction, you will not be allowed to get your teaching degree under Ohio law as it stands today,” the judge said. ”The court’s taking into consideration that is also a punishment that you will have to serve.”
This case is a textbook example of everything that remains racially wrong with America’s educational, economic and criminal justice systems. Let’s start from the top: Had Ms. Williams-Bolar been white, she likely would never have been prosecuted for this crime in the first place (I’d love for them to show me a white woman in that area who’s gone to jail for the same crime). She also is statistically not as likely to be living in a housing project with the need to break an unjust law in order to create a better life for her daughters. Being black is also correlated with the fact that Williams-Bolar likely didn’t have the resources to hire the kinds of attorneys who could get her out of this mess (since the average black family’s wealth is roughly 1/10 that of white families). Finally, economic inequality is impactful here because that’s the reason that Williams-Bolar’s school district likely has fewer resources than the school she chose for her kids. In other words, black people have been historically robbed of our economic opportunities, leading to a two-tiered reality that we are then imprisoned for attempting to alleviate. That, my friends, is American Racism 101.
This case is a textbook example of how racial-inequality created during slavery and Jim Crow continues to cripple our nation to this day. There is no logical reason on earth why this mother of two should be dehumanized by going to jail and be left permanently marginalized from future economic and educational opportunities. Even if you believe in the laws that keep poor kids trapped in underperforming schools, the idea that this woman should be sent to jail for demanding educational access is simply ridiculous.
World Star Hip Hop has not been shut down by 50 Cent. Angie Martinez of Hot 97 just had both 50 and Q from WSHH on air. In the 50 portion of the radio interview, he does not say that he in fact shut down the website. He does mention that there have been ongoing legal battles which stem from worldstarhiphop using his image to promote. Q, who represents WSHH came on the air shortly after 50, to clear things up.
Q claims that 50 Cent did not shut down World Star Hip Hop. He says that Homeland Security didn’t either… they are just experiencing technical difficulties with their hosting. I don’t know what to believe at this point as 50 claims he “might” be the reason for the shut down. Q says that WorldStarHipHop will be back online probably within 24 hours.

It’s official. The ribbon cutting ceremony for the opening of FFC, Flav’s Fried Chicken, took place Monday. Hip-hop and reality star Flavor Flav is a partner in his first time venture as a restaurateur.
The menu includes the Public Enemy hypeman’s specially seasoned fried chicken recipe, ribs, greens and macaroni and cheese.
Before teaming with Nick Cimino to establish FFC, Flav already had a relationship with Cimino’s brother, Peter, who owns Mama Cimino’s in Las Vegas. The pizza restaurant sells Flavor Flav’s .99 cent wings.
It was Nick’s idea to create an eatery based on Flav’s recipe. “Nick sees me frying the chicken and says, ‘I’m going back to my town and I’m going to build us a restaurant, the first FFC restaurant,'” Flav told the Clinton Herald. “I said, ‘Huh, are you serious?'” FFC is located next to the Mama Cimino in Clinton, Iowa.
According to an online review, the Flavor Flav chicken wings had an “extremely oily smell” but were “surprisingly tasty.”
Flav revealed what separates his chicken from competitors Kentucky Fried Chicken, Popeyes, Church’s and others. “When you take the breading off the chicken alls you gonna taste is some boiled chicken,” he said. “But the secret with FFC is I season my meat first. Then I let the meat season the flour. .. If you take the breading off my chicken, you’ll still taste all of my seasonings.”
Flav, born William Drayton Jr., is not new to the restaurant business. He told the Clinton Herald that he grew up watching his mother and sister cook at their family restaurant, the Soul Diner. “I kinda learned how to cook on my own by watching them,” he said.
Flav said he earned a culinary degree in cheffing in 1978, and had also worked as a head cook at the Nassau County Court House as well as at Uniondale High School, both in Long Island.
He added that opening a chicken restaurant has been a longtime dream. He has always wanted to compete with Kentucky Fried Chicken. “I always said, ‘Colonel Sanders, you better watch out, boy. Your boy Flavor Flav is coming and you got something on your hands.'” Ironically, FFC is located near a KFC.
To be honest, I was more shocked that Flav convincing pulled off three successful seasons of dating show The Flavor Of Love than I am about the establishment of this business. As a buffalo wing connoisseur myself, I’m looking forward to doing a taste test during my next stop in Vegas or first trip to Clinton.
Word is green,blonde,blue hair of the gorgeous Nicki Minaj has been kicked out of the Dorchester Hotel after her hordes of eager fans proved too much to handle.
Following reports that one group of fans wrote graffiti inside on of the luxurious London hotel’s lifts, Minaj took to her Twitter page to tell fans she would no longer be staying at the Dorchester.
She tweeted: ‘Long day of press only to find out we’ve officially been kicked out the hotel! Lmaoooooooo. Rescue me barbz!!!! Pleeeeeeeasse *martha voice*’
Nicki later tweeted that she refused to go anywhere without her ‘barbz’…… her word for her fans.
She wrote: ‘U can’t have me w/o my barbz! We’re a packaged deal!!!!’
Asked by one of her followers later why the hotel had made the decision to kick her out, Minaj replied: ‘Cuz the barbz n paps were camping out n they said my barbz r 2 “young”.’
She later added: ‘And they said yesterday while I was out doing press, a fight broke out and an ambulance was called for 1 of my barbz.’
While the Dorchester could not be reached for comment on the situation, it is believed Minaj has no checked into a different London hotel for the rest of her trip.
The hotel’s decision is the latest in a string of incidents Minaj has caused during her promotional visit to the capital.
As well as causing havoc at Heathrow Airport after tweeting fans with her flight times, Minaj was also forced to cancel a performance at London nightclub Runway after a fight broke out inside the venue.
After a successful gig at Watford’s Oceana nightclub earlier in the week, Minaj was due to perform at Runway on Thursday night but, after circling the venue several times, it was deemed too dangerous for her to enter following the fight.
During her time in London, Minaj has also been keeping fans entertained with a variety of outrageous outfits and colourful hairstyles.
After stepping out earlier this week with Marge Simpson style pink hair, Minaj then switched it for a blonde wig and inter-galactic space dress before stepping out last night with black hair and a geometric jumpsuit, colourful sandals and black and white sunglasses.

‘I am blessed to have married the man that God sent me. He’s loving, compassionate, strong and supportive of my children, family and career. I look forward to our lives together.’
