Nicki Minaj has set off rumours that she might have accepted DJ Khaled’s marriage proposal after stepping out with a huge sparkler on her ring finger just a day after his love-filled video message asking for her hand in marriage.

The Super Bass singer was spotted dining at Crustacean with her girl pals in Beverly Hills last night, sporting a massive diamond – worth $500,000 Splash News reports – and markedly similar to the one the celebrity DJ and producer whipped out in his video proposal.

Nicki has remained tight-lipped over the whole incident, but did indicate that love is definitely in the air, taking to her Instagram page to post a picture of herself standing in front of a sign with the word love written over, captioning the snap with “It’s all u need”.

She also opted to wear a pink t-shirt also emblazoned with the words “Love Dirty” as she headed out for dinner on Saturday night. Something to teall us Nicki?

On friday a video message via MTV News in which DJ Khaled declared his love for the 30-year-old went viral.

In it he told the singer: “I want to be honest with you. I love you. I like you. I want you to be mine. The only reason I’m not telling you this face to face is because I know that you’re busy…

Nicki has remained tight-lipped on the proposal…

“You need a man like me in your life that’s gonna take care of you and respect you. You gotta take your time and think about it, I understand… but I know I have to be here today to let you know how serious I am and about how serious this is to me.

“I want to let your fans know, my fans know, my family, your family, that I wanna marry you.”

He liked it….so it only makes sense that he wanted to put a ring on it!

During an interview with MTV News, DJ Khaled popped the question to Nicki Minaj and even presented her with a 10-karat, radiant-cut ring worth approximately $500,000.

“Nicki Minaj, I’m at MTV. I love you. I like you. I want you. I want you to be mine. I’m here at MTV because it’s a worldwide network,” he said via video. “Only reason I’m not telling you this face to face is because I understand that you’re busy. Ima be honest with you, I wanna marry you.”

And while viewers were skeptical that the famous DJ was pulling a prank on everyone, it quickly became apparent that he was being completely serious.

“Nicki Minaj, will you marry me? We got the same symptoms, we both suffer from success. You out there touring, you’re out there hustling, you’re out there making music and you’re out there winning. And I understand.”

“That’s why I feel like you need a man like me in your life that’s gonna take care of you and respect you,” he explained. “If you have to take your time and think about it, I overstand. But I know I have to be here today to let you know how serious I am and how serious this is to me. I want to let your fans know, my fans know, my family, your family, that I want to marry you.”

Whoooooweeeee!

Minaj has yet to make any public comments regarding the proposal, but either way, we’re sure that this video took her by surprise. She did actually retweet the video on her Twitter account…so that’s a good sign for Khaled, right?

Donna Summer Tribute Cut Short??

The Billboard Music Awards managed to incorporate a tribute to the Queen of Disco Donna Summer who died of cancer just days before Sunday’s broadcast. Before launching into Summer’s 1978 hit “Last Dance,” British pop singer Natasha Bedingfield said Summer “inspired so many women including me.”

Bedingfield’s cover wasn’t as triumphant as the original but it was respectfully done. However, just as the song’s ballad intro faded and the track turned upbeat, the show producers segued into a commercial break.

Some viewers complained online. “Donna Summer was literally the voice of an era! they should have at least let Natasha finish the song,” New York’s Hot 97 DJ Angie Martinez said via Twitter.

Another Twitter user agreed. “Way to cut it short Billboard,” Jamie Sward Tweeted in response to Billboard’s post, “Natasha Bedingfield gave her all during her Donna Summer tribute.”

Spokespersons for the Billboard Music Awards and ABC have not yet replied for responses. One can only imagine how difficult it is to make last minute changes to a live broadcast.

In addition to Summer’s late passing, Bee Gee’s co-founder Robin Gibb died the day of the awards. Co-host Julie Bowen acknowledged Gibb before a commercial break. “Just over an hour ago we received the very sad news that the music world lost another legend,” she said before asking the viewers to take a pause to pay respect to Gibb.

Usain Bolt dumped his girlfriend to focus on London Olympics

Usain Bolt ended his six-month relationship with a Slovakian fashion designer in order to focus on the upcoming Summer Olympics.

News reports suggest Bolt’s breakup with Lubica Slovak, 28, was because of his desire to repeat his double-gold/world-record Olympic performance in London. The Jamaican swept the sprint events in 2008 and set the world marks in each race.

A source close to Bolt told The Sun, “He will have plenty of time for relationships. At the moment he’s concentrating on his running career and doesn’t want anything to distract from that.”

Slovak emigrated to Canada as a teenager and later moved to Jamaica after she took a vacation there. She was introduced to Bolt by reggae singer Tami Chynn, a mutual friend.

The sprinting star was criticized in his native Jamaica when a picture of him kissing Slovak, who is white, appeared in a local newspaper. A cartoon accompanied the photo, in which Bolt was seen running past a black woman with “local” written on her shirt and into the arms of a “Slovakian fashion designer.”

The island’s second-largest newspaper published letters to the editor criticizing Bolt’s choice in women. Countless Internet comments angrily reacted to the Bolt-Slovak relationship.

Coroner: Bubba Smith died from overdose of diet pills

Bubba Smith died from an overdose of diet pills, according to the Los Angeles County Coroner report released Wednesday.

TMZ reported that the official coroner’s report on Smith’s Aug. 3 death listed “acute phentermine intoxication” as the first cause of death. Phentermine is a drug used to speed weight loss by suppressing appetite.

The former Baltimore Colts All-Pro, who became famous for roles in film, television and commercials after his career, was found dead this summer in his Los Angeles home. At the time, authorities believed the 66-year-old died of natural causes.

Smith was the first pick of the 1967 draft, won a Super Bowl with the Colts during the 1970 season and made an All-Pro team as a defensive end in 1971. He later appeared in the “Police Academy” movies and memorable advertisements from Miller Lite.

Justin Bieber was denied chance to rap at BET Hip-Hop Awards

Legendary producer Dj Premier banned Justin Bieber from taking part in a freestyle rap performance at the BET Hip-Hop Awards after learning the teen pop star was planning to spit a verse written by Ludacris.

The awards ceremony has become known for its pre-recorded musical segments, known as cyphers, which this year featured rappers Eminem, Busta Rhymes, Ludacris and B.o.B., as well as a rhyming Chris Brown.

But Premier reveals there was one eager participant he was forced to reject – because he wasn’t going to pen his own lyrics.

The producer says, “Justin Bieber even asked if he could do the cypher. Everybody was worried that it might mess up the integrity of BET but I was like, ‘(As) long as he got a dope rhyme, let him spit.’

“But, then we heard, ‘He wants Luda to write his rhyme.’ I was like, ‘Oh, no, no, no, no, no.’ If you ain’t (sic) writing your own rhyme, you can’t do it. So, Justin, you gotta take a backseat on that one. Write your own rhymes, honey. You gotta call him honey on that one.”

Bieber previously adopted the rap moniker Shawty Mane and showed off his rhyming skills on R&B star Chris Brown’s first rap mixtape, Boy In Detention, earlier this year.

The BET Hip-Hop Awards took place in Atlanta, Georgia on 1 October.

Soulja Boy Arrested In Georgia

Authorities say hip-hop star Soulja Boy is facing a drug charge after police stopped his rental car in the west Georgia town of Temple on Interstate 20.

Temple Police Chief Tim Shaw tells The Associated Press that police stopped the rented Cadillac Escalade early Tuesday morning because a light wasn’t working. He said officers found marijuana inside.

The artist, also known as DeAndre Cortez Way, was booked into the Carroll County Jail on charges of marijuana and firearms possession. He was subsequently released on $10,000 bond.

Shaw said that based on what he knows of the arrest, all five occupants of the car were very cordial.

Carroll County officials say Way was represented by attorney Kip Jones, who had no comment when contacted.

Miami-Broward thousands of revelers took to the streets of Miami Gardens To Celebrate Carnival at Sun Life Stadium

This weekend’s wicked weather was no match for carnival.

Thousands of revelers turned out to Sun Life Stadium Sunday to experience South Florida’s take on the age-old tradition.

Despite the drizzle, the annual parade of masquerade bands…. with its dancers in sequined costumes and feathered headdresses, steel bands and 18-wheelers blasting infectious soca music…..did not disappoint.

“I love the music, the people,” said Rose Paul, 19, of Fort Lauderdale, but originally from Haiti. She spent months preparing. She wore an intricate banana-yellow costume decorated with gold sequins and tropical flowers. Grapes and leaves flowed from her dark hair.

“Rain never stops carnival,” said Jazmine Reyner, a 21-year-old Miamian originally from Nicaragua.

Carnival originated hundreds of years ago in Italy as a pre-Lent festival. It now takes place around the world.

In the past, Miami-Dade and Broward held individual carnivals, sometimes on the same day. But for the past three years, organizers have opted for a joint celebration called Miami Broward One Carnival.

The South Florida festival is the last stop on the Caribbean carnival circuit, which starts in Trinidad and Tobago and swings through London, Toronto and New York.

The local carnival got off to a bass-pumping start Saturday with SocaFest, an all-night party devoted to the fast-paced Caribbean style of music.

But for many, the highlight of the weekend was Sunday’s parade.

Hundreds of dancers took part, many wearing the colors of their home countries. They followed two dozen floats through the streets of Miami Gardens before making a grand entrance into Sun Life Stadium, where parade judges and spectators waited.

Destiny Mintey, 6, was awed by the beautiful women with long, false eyelashes and glittering skin who sashayed before her.

“The best thing is the costumes,” the first-grader said. “They are really pretty.”

More than anything else, Sunday was a celebration of diverse cultures.

Among the countries represented: the Bahamas, Belize, Guyana, Haiti, Jamaica, Puerto Rico, Trinidad and Tobago, the United States and the Virgin Islands.

There was even a group of 50 young adults from Denmark.

Yes, Denmark.

“We’re here on a field trip,” Christian Petri, 20, said. “We saw that this was happening and thought it would be a good way to experience Miami.”

True to the spirit of the day, the Danish students came in costume. They wore matching light brown guayabera shirts and white fedoras festooned with long feathers and sequins.

Said Petri: “There is definitely nothing like this in Denmark.”

Early Sunday, it seemed the weather would not cooperate.

A heavy downpour delayed the start of the parade. When the rain stopped, it was sizzling hot.

The revelers hardly noticed.

Nickole Moretta, 74, strolled down the street in a glittering bra top and a skirt made from colorful, mismatched fabrics.

A carnival veteran, Moretta nearly missed this year’s celebration.

“Less than a year ago, she had a torn aorta,” said her son, local radio personality Mohamed Moretta. “She had to have heart surgery.”

“I was dead for five minutes,” the mother interjected, her hips swaying to the music, her finger pointing to the long scar on her chest.

But Nickole Moretta recovered in time for this year’s event. “I never miss carnival,” she said.

Jennifer Hudson Blows Off Michael Jackson Tribute Concert

Stars came out to honor Michael Jackson at a tribute concert in Wales on Saturday night, but a last minute pull out dimmed the ticket in Cardiff considerably.

Hours before the show, Oscar and Grammy winner Jennifer Hudson announced that she would not be performing, tweeting, “To my uk fans that were coming to the mj show in wales. I will no longer be attentding [sic] due to major production issues.”

Following a surprised reaction from fans, the “Dreamgirls” star followed up, writing, “I would have thought they would have informed you all by now , so since they did not , I am. Thank u for your support.”

According to TMZ, Hudson was upset that she was not given enough time with the music she had agreed to sing. TMZ also reports that Hudson was paid in full ahead of time, which may cause legal problems.

Chris Brown and the Black Eyed Peas were also no-shows; Brown was reportedly denied a visa to enter the United Kingdomd due to his criminal record, while the Black Eyed Peas pulled out earlier in the week amidst speculation that they were breaking up.

Still, concertgoers were treated to performances by artists such as Christina Aguilera, Cee Lo Green, Gladys Knight, Beyonce (via satellite) and three generations of the Jackson family, including appearances by the late superstar’s three children.

TRAGEDY : Cop Charged In 7-Year-Old’s Death During Reality Show Taping

A Detroit police officer was charged Tuesday in the slaying of a 7-year-old girl who was shot to death during a midnight raid on her home by a special unit that was being shadowed by a reality television show crew.

Officer Joseph Weekley, a member of the Detroit Police Special Response Team, was indicted on an involuntary manslaughter charge after a nearly yearlong Michigan State Police investigation into the May 16, 2010, death of Aiyana Stanley-Jones.

Aiyana was on a sofa on the first floor of a two-family home when Detroit police tossed a flash grenade through a window and burst through the front door. Detroit police have said Weekley’s gun accidentally discharged after he was bumped or jostled by the girl’s grandmother.

A film crew with the A&E Network’s “The First 48” crime reality cable TV show was shadowing Detroit police on the raid. The TV show tracks murder investigations during the first two days after a slaying, and Aiyana’s death put a spotlight on the growing number of reality shows focusing on law enforcement.

Prosecutors announced Tuesday that the TV show’s principal photographer, Allison Howard, also was indicted on perjury and obstruction of justice charges.

According to the indictment, Howard, of Brooklyn, N.Y., is accused of lying to prosecutors about showing or giving video footage of the raid to “third parties.” It did not specify who the third party was, but after the raid, an attorney for the family told reporters they had seen a few minutes of the video footage.

Further details about the charges against Howard were not immediately available. Assistant prosecutor Robert Moran told a judge on Tuesday that the investigation into the girl’s death was delayed seven months “because of the perjury,” but he did not elaborate. All Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy would say was that “impediments” surfaced during the investigation. She declined to provide more details.

A judge entered a plea of not guilty for Howard on Tuesday at a court hearing. A message seeking comment was left with her Detroit-area attorney, Robert Harrison. A message seeking comment also was left after business hours Tuesday for an A&E spokeswoman.

A judge also entered a plea of not guilty for Weekley at the afternoon court hearing. The involuntary manslaughter charge carries a maximum penalty of 15 years in prison. He also faces a charge of careless discharge of a firearm causing death.

“He knows he was acting as a police officer in a dangerous mission,” Weekley’s lawyer, Steve Fishman, said of his client.

“I don’t think anybody realizes how their lives change,” Fishman said of police officers involved in shootings. “People think they’re androids and robots, and they’re wrong.”

Soon after Aiyana’s slaying, Detroit Mayor Dave Bing banned reality television crews from tagging along with police. He also admonished then-Police Chief Warren Evans for not telling him that he was permitting TV cameras on raids.

On May 18, 2010, an attorney representing the girl’s family in a civil suit against the city and police department and told reporters that he viewed three to four minutes of video footage of the raid and that it showed a group of black-hooded officers approaching the house before the flash grenade was thrown through the window and the shot being fired.

“We know there’s only one shot,” attorney Geoffrey Fieger said during the press conference last year with Aiyana’s family. “It’s vividly depicted in the videotape … right after the throw and the explosion of the bomb. At that point the officers rush into the home.”

Fieger declined to say what footage he viewed and said he did not retain a copy. A message seeking comment from Fieger was not immediately returned Tuesday.

The focus of the raid was Chauncey Owens, the fiance of Aiyana’s aunt. Owens was wanted in the May 14, 2010, shooting death of 17-year-old Je’rean Blake outside a nearby convenience store. Owens was found in the separate upstairs apartment.

Owens pleaded guilty in April to second-degree murder in Blake’s death. On Tuesday, Worthy also announced that Charles Jones, the girl’s father, had been arrested and charged with first-degree murder in Blake’s slaying. Jones did not have an attorney on Tuesday and phone number for him and his family could not immediately be found.

“It is alleged that after an argument, Jones accompanied Owens to the scene of the shooting and aided, abetted, and encouraged Owens during the murder of Blake,” Worthy said in a statement.

Charles Jones was expected to be arraigned Wednesday. A pretrial hearing is scheduled Friday for Weekley and Howard.

Weekley was released on a $100,000 personal recognizance bond. Howard was required to come up with a $5,000 of a $50,000 bond to be released.

“Our condolences remain with all affected by this tragedy. We must use this difficult moment to continue bringing our community and police department together,” Bing said in a statement.
