T.I. was arrested along with his wife on suspicion of possessing methamphetamines, five months after the hip-hop star finished a prison stint on weapons charges.
The 29-year-old rapper and his wife, Tameka Cottle, were arrested Wednesday night in West Hollywood after deputies smelled marijuana and pulled the couple over, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department said. They were released from jail at about 4 a.m. Thursday after posting $10,000 bail each, sheriff’s Deputy Luis Castro said.
T.I.’s publicist declined to comment.
The Atlanta-based rapper is a multiplatinum hitmaker. Known as the “King of the South,” he has emerged one of music’s most profitable stars.
He also has a key role in the current top box office movie “Takers.” The shoot-’em-up about an armored truck robbery that goes bad was released last week and topped the box-office chart.
Cottle, 36, sang with the 1990s group Xscape and has recently been the star of the BET reality series, “The Tiny & Toya Show,” She and the rapper, who is a father of five, married in late July.
T.I. served seven months in an Arkansas federal prison and three months in a Georgia halfway house on federal weapons charges for possessing unregistered machine guns and silencers. He was sentenced to serve three years of supervised release after his prison sentence ended.
He was ordered not to commit another federal, state or local crime while on supervised release, and also ordered not to illegally possess a controlled substance. He was also told to take at least three drug tests after his release and to participate in a drug and alcohol treatment program.
Patrick Crosby, a spokesman for the U.S. Attorney in Atlanta, had no immediate comment Thursday on whether the rapper, whose real name is Clifford Harris, violated the terms of the judge’s order.
Since his release, the rapper, who previously spent time behind bars for drug offenses, has vowed to live a better life. He spoke to children about the dangers of drugs and guns, and former United Nations Ambassador Andrew Young was one of his supporters. As he prepared for his most recent sentence, he starred in the MTV reality show “T.I.’s Road to Redemption: 45 Days to Go.”
Young was skeptical about the charges against the rapper and the circumstances of the arrest as they were pulled over in a Maybach, a luxury German-made car.
“I assume that you’re innocent until you’re proven guilty,” Young told The Associated Press in a telephone interview. “If he was driving and smoking marijuana, that is absolutely stupid. But why was he pulled over in the first place? Because he had a Maybach? Because he was black? Because they know who he is and resent his success?
Young, who is also an ordained minister, married Harris and Cottle last month in Miami.
In a recent interview with The Associated Press, T.I. talked about living a more positive life.
“Right now, it’s all about moving forward and just acknowledging the blessing that are here today. … Just moving past the regrets of yesterday – the things that could’ve been done better,” T.I. said in a July interview.
The arrests follow last week’s detention of socialite Paris Hilton, who is being investigated for felony cocaine possession after a motorcycle officer smelled pot wafting from her car.

The bankruptcy petition came to light Monday after Nashville’s U.S. District Court lifted the seal it had placed on court filings related to the August 3 seizure. The Chapter 13 process, designed to allow individuals to restructure their debts, automatically halts efforts by any creditor — even the IRS — to collect on debts owed by the person who files. Creditors can ask the bankruptcy court to lift the stay against them on certain grounds, allowing them to move against the debtor. The tax authority claims Brown owes it about $305,000 for taxes due between 2006 and 2008, including penalties, interest and collection costs.
In a court filing that detailed the materials seized, IRS revenue officer Lauren Thompson valued them at roughly $70,000. Among the property listed were these items:
* A “Breitling Bentley Watch with diamond face and band,” said to be worth $31,000.
* More than $20,000 worth of music-recording gear.
* More than a dozen plaques, photos and other memorabilia related to albums by rapper 50 Cent, with whom Brown has been in a feud for several years.
* A portrait of rappers Lloyd Banks, Tony Yayo, 50 Cent, Eminem and Young Buck.
* “G-Unit Beg for Mercy Award pictures.”
* “Faux fur men’s light grey coat w/ ‘YB Cashville’ stitched inside.”
* Six televisions, including four with screen dimensions between 43 and 55 inches.
* “Ms. Pac Man video game.”
* “Hand crafted snake skin purse from Nigeria.”
* “Indigenous Art from Australia.”
* “X-Box machine.” (Brown complained after the raid that “they took my kids’ Playstation.”)
In documents filed August 19 as part of the bankruptcy filing, Brown declares assets of almost $6 million and liabilities just under $1.04 million. But $5 million of the assets come from a contingent claim listed as “Brown v. Bruce Seckendorf, G Unit Inc,. Curtis Jackson III, Michael Clervoix.” The filings do not specify whether this is a lawsuit Brown has already filed or one he contemplates filing later.

The ‘Hello Good Morning’ rapper has denied the accusations that he manipulated artists and treated them badly.
In an interview with Vibe magazine, he said: “There’s an off perception that needs to be addressed about me that I have ever robbed somebody or mistreated somebody. Or tried to be ruthless or whatever in this game. Like, all this year I’ve heard people say, ‘Where’s Carl Thomas, where’s Black Rob, where’s G.Dep? Where are these artists?’
“For some reason they go ahead and equate that, cause those artists aren’t with me, that I’ve done something wrong or malicious or conniving. It’s something that I do have a problem with because they don’t have no proof that I’ve ever done nothing like that.”

Snooki Responds To Her Boyfriend’s Proposal
Snooki’s boyfriend, Jeff Miranda, proposed on the cover of ‘Steppin’ Out’ magazine that hit the web Monday. “Will You Marry Me?” read the boldfaced headline over a shirtless Jeff.
Tuesday Snooki responded via Twitter.
“Just want to set the record straight. I’m single and I’m not going to get married!” she wrote.
Snooki and Jeff have only been dating for about two weeks.
On Tuesday Radaronline.com released NSFW photos of Jeff cavorting at a swingers’ club with topless women.
“They used to have private swinger’s parties on off nights at the club and there was a lot of risky behavior with people often pairing off and heading to hotels together afterwards,” a source told Radar. “Jeff loved these parties and he really saw himself as a ‘ladies man’. His favorite party trick was to pour alcohol on naked bodies of women and then lick it off.”
The Rev. Jeremiah Wright, President Barack Obama’s controversial former pastor, accused people who wrongly believe Obama is Muslim of catering to political enemies during a fiery speech Sunday in Arkansas.
In his sermon at New Millennium Church in Little Rock, Wright criticized supporters of the Iraq war and defended former state Court of Appeals Judge Wendell Griffen for speaking out against it. Griffen serves as the church’s pastor.
Wright’s only reference to Obama came when he compared Griffen’s opponents to those who incorrectly think Obama is Muslim. The president, whose full name is Barack Hussein Obama, is Christian.
“Go after the military mindset … and the enemy will come after you with everything,” Wright told the packed church.
“He will surround you with sycophants who will criticize you and ostracize you and put you beyond the pale of hope and say ‘you ain’t really a Baptist’ and say ‘the president ain’t really a Christian, he’s a Muslim. There ain’t no American Christian with a name like Barack Hussein,'” he added.
A poll released this month found that nearly one in five people, or 18 percent, said they thought Obama was Muslim, up from the 11 percent in March 2009. The proportion who correctly said he was Christian was 34 percent, down from 48 percent in March of last year. The poll, conducted by the nonpartisan Pew Research Center and its affiliated Pew Forum on Religion & Public Life, surveyed 3,003 people.
Obama cut ties with Wright in 2008, after Wright’s more incendiary remarks hit the Internet during the presidential election. At a National Press Club appearance in April 2008, Wright claimed the U.S. government could plant AIDS in the black community, praised Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrahkan and suggested Obama was putting his pastor at arm’s length for political purposes while privately agreeing with him.
Obama denounced Wright as “divisive and destructive” and left Wright’s church in Chicago.
Griffen lost a re-election bid for the Arkansas Court of Appeals in 2008, after high profile battles with a state judicial panel over the rights of judges to speak out on political issues. Griffen was elected in May to a judicial post in Pulaski County, the state’s most populous county that includes Little Rock.
Griffen said he invited Wright to speak at his church as part of a monthlong focus on the relationship between faith and the community.
Wright defended Griffen’s outspokenness on political issues, saying it showed he was willing to speak out even if it would cost him politically.
Wright’s sermon focused on the Old Testament story of the prophet Elisha thwarting an attack by the Aramean Army. Wright repeatedly made references to the war in Iraq and suggested parallels with the Biblical story.
“What was his motivation? Elisha had embarrassed him, like Saddam had embarrassed George Herbert Walker,” Wright said, referring to the former president.
Wright spoke as Arkansas Republicans hope to capitalize on Obama’s unpopularity in the fall election. Obama has not visited the state since 2006, and lost its six electoral votes in the 2008 election.
This is the man who should have been speaking yesterday in Washington. Rev. Wright is an honorable man. He speaks the truth. I challenge any of his critics to really stand up to him in terms of what he has done for the people of Chicago and the community in which his church is located. Ignorance unfortunately prevails. There are conflicting reports about whether the hip hop labels Drake and Nicki Minaj got married or not.
The former “DeGrassi; The Next Generation” star and the chart topping rapper, Drake confessed via his Twitter account that he has tied the knot with Nicki Minaj.
The two had been dating for the past couple of months.
In one of Drake’s songs, “Miss Me”, he rapped about his love towards Nicki with lyrics, “I love Nick Minaj. I told her, I’d admit it, I hope one day we get married, just to say we f**king did it, And girl I am f**king serious, I am with it if you with it”.
Drake bore witness via his Twitter on Friday 27th August that the couple is now married. Not only Drake’s, but also Nicki’s Twitter account announces their marriage.
On the other hand, when representatives of both the rappers were asked about it, they denied any such news and reckoned it as a joke.
This gives room to the suspicion whether it is truth or a mere joke by the duo, since official words from Young Money Records is yet to come.
Nine years after singer Aaliyah’s untimely Aug. 25 death in a plane crash in the Bahamas, Missy Elliott is still mourning the loss of her friend.
“There’s not a day that goes by that I don’t think of [Aaliyah] or watch a video or play her music,” the rapper confessed in a new interview with MTV. “I miss her every day.”
Elliott wrote and produced tracks for Aaliyah’s 1996 album “One in a Million,” and said that working with the R&B singer was a dream.
“She was such a big star, and I was scared she was gonna be some diva,” explained Elliott. “But when we walked in the studio, her smile made the whole room glow! She was like ‘Heyyyyy!’ and gave us big hugs and made us feel like we were her cousins from down South. She was a very sweet spirit! Never seen her angry as long as I’ve known her, and in this business, that’s unheard of!”
While Elliott, 39, isn’t sure whether the rumored Aaliyah biopic is a go, she does see her legacy living on.
“I think it’s hard for Aaliyah to be duplicated, because she had her own lane. But Ciara is an R&B singer who loves to dance, and Aaliyah was that same kinda artist,” she told MTV. “We knew when she dropped a record, we couldn’t wait for the video. I think Aaliyah has influenced artists like a Ciara.”
