FORT LAUDERDALE – Former radio talk show host Nicole Sandler was arrested Tuesday night after a South Florida GOP town hall meeting got out of hand.
The meeting, held that the Calvary Chapel on West Crypress Creek Road in Ft. Lauderdale, got off to a rocky start when a handful of protestors heckled speaker U.S. Rep. Allen West over Medicare and his requirement that questions had to submitted in writing.
Soon after police escorted them out, Sandler began to pepper West with questions and comments as he tried to explain the Republican position on Medicare. When she refused to stop to talking, Fort Lauderdale Police spokesperson Travis Mandell said she was escorted out of the room in handcuffs for being disruptive.
On her way out Sandler reportedly began arguing with the officer and was arrested for trespassing after a warning.
Sandler, an outspoken liberal who hosted a talk show for several years on the now defunct Air America Network, can be heard daily on radioornot.com.
