Witnesses say a light on the stage caught fire during her show. Fans cheered when the fire was put out.
Dallas Fire-Rescue said calls came in saying the curtains and part of the stagework caught fire but the fire was out by the time firefighters arrived.
“according to a group of CBS 11 employees who attended the concert, it appeared the fire started from pyrotechnics that were part of the show.”
The CBS report also explained of the evacuation that the venue “was not evacuated immediately, but some people rushed the exits, causing a backup.”
Rihanna even addressed the incident on her Twitter account, saying in one tweet: “DALLAS!!! We set the stage on FYAH tonight!!! LITERALLY!!! I’m so pissed, I was havin so much fun wit yall too!!! I gotta come back man!!”
The singer also tweeted that she was looking into the cause of the fire: “Heading into a production meeting to find out exactly what happened!!! Keep u posted #LOUDtourDALLAS”
Video of the incident shows the fire being extinguished soon after it ignites.

Bow Wow has revealed that he has a daughter in a letter to his fans on his website.
“I waited so long to tell yall the truth because i was nervous on how yall would look at me,” he wrote on his blog. Although he said his daughter is growing up fast, Bow Wow did not reveal how old his daughter is or how long he’s kept her a secret.
Bow Wow, whose real name is Shad Moss, said he doesn’t plan to post pictures of his daughter so that she can enjoy the anonymous childhood he never had. “[I] Want her to be able to cheerlead with her lil friends with out some a–hole sticking his camera all in my lil girl face,” he wrote. “I know how fame is. I missed out on so much that i now know how important it is to cherish and have those things in your life.”
The 24-year-old also said that his daughter lives with her mother across the country. “i have to fly 5 hrs away to see her,” he wrote.”I find myself going into my i phone book jus lookn at pix of her.”

Sounds like he denied his child he had with video vixen Joie all these months simply to save the “big reveal” for his upcoming documentary. Well that’s nice. Here’s his letter he posted on his official site early yesterday morning about Shai and why he was nervous to reveal her:
Let me start off by saying i love my fans. With out yall i wudda been left the game. For the past 3 years i been batteling life. Even thought about taking my own. I felt like as a kid i did everything and saw everything too fast which spoiled my adult years. I felt as if i had no purpose to live(Thinking selfishly) until god gave me the illest gift of my life. We’re very sad to report that…While most of us were celebrating Independence Day with fireworks, family and grilling, for Nicki Minaj, the day was gloomy.
The Young Money rapper is mourning the loss of her cousin, who was killed last night in Brooklyn, New York. Clearly upset, she took to Twitter saying:

Before this morning, little was known on Nicki’s cousin or how the incident yesterday night occurred. New details have been release by The New York Daily News, which reported on how the 27-year-old was killed:
Nicholas Telemaque had just left C-PAC nightclub just blocks from his home when he was shot multiple times in his torso at E. 52nd St. and Farragut Road in East Flatbush about 2:40 a.m., cops and a relative said.
“It’s disgusting,” said cousin Roger Clarke, 41. “Young kids, they don’t value someone’s life.”
Telemaque, who has prior arrests for possession of marijuana and driving on a suspended license, died soon after he was taken to Kings County Hospital.

Clayton Hill, a former member of the Nation of Islam and currently incarcerated at a federal prison in Chicago, has come forward and told HipHopDX.com that he played an accessory to the murder of rapper Notorious BIG after the fact, and knows who the shot and killed the rapper.
BIG, was killed while driving away from a party in Los Angeles on March 9, 1997. Hill claims that, acting under orders from a higher-up at Muhammad Mosque #15 in Atlanta, he met at a Greyhound station a man from Los Angeles who called himself Dawoud Muhammad and took from him possession of a firearm that he claimed he used to shoot the rapper.
“Dawoud Muhammad stated to me that he was on the run for the murder of The Notorious B.I.G.,” Hill told HipHopDx.com. “He disclosed that he was the shooter of The Notorious B.I.G. because he (Dawoud) was a former Blood gang member and was paid to do so.”
Hill will soon release the e-book, “Diary of an Ex-Terrorist,” about his time with the Nation of Islam.
“I told Dawoud Muhammad I had instructions to collect some property from him,” he writes in that book. “He must have been given the same instructions because he didn’t hesitate or show any signs of doubt as he bent over and removed a trash liner out of a waste can and handed it to me to hold open. He reached into the duffle bag he brought with him and pulled out a semi-automatic hand gun that could have been a .9 millimeter or a .40 caliber wrapped in a white undershirt. Carefully he placed it into the trash bag making sure his hands never touched any of the exposed parts of the gun.”
Recently, the long-frustrated inquiry into BIG’s murder was “re-invigorated” by new evidence, CNN reported in January. At the center of the case is former LAPD Detective Russell Poole, who resigned from the force in 1999 after feeling as if his investigation was being stonewalled from within.
Poole claimed that former LAPD officer David Mack, a Tupac superfan, and Amir Muhammad carried out the shooting of BIG, as ordered by Death Row Records founder Suge Knight, who was incarcerated at the time. Shakur was murdered months before, part of the east coast-west coast rap rivalry, and Knight, some speculate, may have been seeking revenge.
Months later, Mack was sent to prison for bank robbery. Poole insisted that officers in the LAPD, working off duty for Death Row, thwarted the investigation, telling CNN that he, “was getting too close to the truth.”
In 2005, a paid informant who said that Knight ordered the murder pulled back his testimony, saying that he was a paranoid schizophrenic and his identification was fraudulent.
When HipHopDx.com asked Hill whether his memory of Dawoud Muhammad matches pictures of Amir Muhammad, Hill said, “I have looked at the pics… and although I cannot say conclusively and with absolute certainty because that was 14 years ago, Amir Muhammad looks like the person who used the name Dawoud.”
Hill claims and a HipHopDx.com source confirmed — that he met with the government about the content of his confession, though his inability to identify the killer in photos hurt his credibility, at least in terms of usability in court. Hill is currently serving time for Conspiracy to Defraud the United States and Identity Theft.

Although several notable figures stepped up to plead for leniency for reggae star Buju Banton- real name Mark Myrie- the singer was sentenced to ten years in federal prison on drug chargea in a Florida courtroom Thursday 6/23/2011.
Among those who appealed on 37-year-old Banton’s behalf were family members, prominent athletes and even actor Danny Glover:
Dozens of letters to U.S. District Judge James S. Moody are included in the court file for the 37-year-old recording artist, whose given name is Mark Myrie. Several of his 15 children wrote, as did a former Jamaican government official, an NBA player, other reggae artists and actor Danny Glover, who called Banton a “role model, philanthropist and spiritual leader in the community.”
“Your honor, Mark Myrie is not a drug dealer,” Glover wrote. “Society would not benefit from his incarceration.”
According to Billboard, the case hinged largely on the singer’s intent to participate in potential drug deals, conspiring with a Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) informant- who received a $50,000 payout in the case. Banton’s first trial in the case was declared a mistrial due to a deadlocked jury. The singer was convicted in February on counts of “conspiracy to possess with the intent to distribute cocaine, possession of a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking offense and using a telephone to facilitate a drug trafficking offense.”
Arriving at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles for the 2011 BET Awards, Hollywood stars and big names in music showed off their individual style. Among those turning heads with their looks on Sunday, June 26 afternoon were “Whip My Hair” hitmaker Willow Smith and raptress Nicki Minaj.
10-year-old Willow sported a casual, yet unique look when hitting the green carpet. This year’s Video of the Year nominee, who was joined by brother Jaden Smith, wore a yellow shirt, emblazoned with father Will Smith’s face, under a red leather jacket. She paired them up with a pair of black shorts and knee-high boots. Completing her look, she rocked a heart-shaped hairdo.
26-year-old Nicki, on the other hand, wore a wine colored mini dress that she paired with black boots and lace stockings. Ditching her usually colorful wig, she went with a black bob hairdo this time around. The “Moment 4 Life” hitmaker was among the early winner as she was crowned as Best Female Hip-Hop Artist.
Another young star spotted making an appearance was pop sensation Justin Bieber. The “Never Say Never” singer, who is one of the celebrity presenters for the special night, came wearing black T-shirt under a denim jacket and a pair of jeans. He also sported a pair of black sneakers and donned sunglasses.

2011 BET Awards has been held on June 26 at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles. Among the stars attending the ceremony, Idris Elba came out as the winner of Best Actor. The actor starring as Roque in “The Losers” beat other nominees which included Chris Brown, Jamie Foxx and Don Cheadle.
As for the Best Actress award, the kudo went to Taraji P. Henson. The 40-year-old actress successfully took home the award after beating other nominees: Halle Berry, Zoe Saldana, Kerry Washington and Regina King.
The Sunday event also witnessed “For Colored Girls” winning Best Movie kudo. The Tyler Perry-directed film, which tells the story about nine African-American women who suffer personal conflicts, has defeated other contenders, “Death at a Funeral (2010)”, “Why Did I Get Married Too?” and “Takers”.
The BET Awards were given to celebrate African Americans and other minorities in music, acting, sports, and other fields of entertainment over the past year. This year, it hired Kevin Hart as the host, while the likes of Nicki Minaj, Beyonce Knowles, Trey Songz and Cee-Lo Green performed on the stage.
You may be confused, but not nearly so much so as the presenters at the BET Awards, who couldn’t quite figure out which performer had won the fan-voted video of the year award. First, they announced Brown had earned the top trophy, then quickly “corrected” themselves to say it was actually going to Rihanna. The featured artist on Rihanna’s song, Drake, took the stage and accepted it on her behalf, saying, “This is awkward.” But it only got more ridiculous when, at the end of the telecast, host Kevin Hart announced that they were right the first time and Brown—who was smiling silently at his side—was the real winner, not his ex.
Everyone knew that Brown was in the house and Rihanna was MIA, but for a second, you might have wondered if this was some kind of publicity stunt where the BETs were really going to declare that the two ex-lovers were deadlocked.
Rihanna’s supposed win was the sole shock of the night—while it lasted—as the three-and-a-half-hour telecast clearly marked Chris Brown’s re-coronation as a forgiven popular favorite. Giving an acceptance speech after winning the first award of the night, for favorite male R&B singer, Brown made only the most oblique reference to his controversial troubles and tantrums. “I know it’s been a long road,” he told the cheering throng at L.A.’s Shrine Auditorium. “I appreciate every blessing that’s in front of me… Public speaking is not my strong suit,” he added—which may be the understatement of the year, after he was caught on camera last week uttering anti-gay epithets.
Maybe the BET Awards were doing Brown a favor, then, by denying him the chance to give his climactic acceptance speech and mistakenly giving that slot to Drake instead. The BETs do look out for their favorites.
