FLOYD MAYWEATHER WINS BUT IS ROUNDLY BOOED FOR UNSPORTSMANLIKE CONDUCT

This is a FIGHT what SOME dont get. hands down man down. protect yourself at all times.

In just one round, Floyd Mayweather Jr. got a head butt, a kiss and a hug from Victor Ortiz.

He responded with a right hand that ended a bizarre fight early.

Mayweather remained unbeaten and did it in emphatic fashion Saturday night, stopping Ortiz at 2:59 of the fourth round to take the piece of the welterweight title Ortiz brought into the ring.

The end came just as the two fighters emerged from a break, in which Ortiz had embraced Mayweather in the centre of the ring. As they broke, Mayweather shot out a left hand and followed it with a right that put Ortiz down in his corner.

Ortiz struggled to get up as referee Joe Cortez called an end to the fight.

“We touched gloves and we were back to fighting and then I threw the left and right hand after the break,” Mayweather said. “In the ring you have to protect yourself at all times.”

The round was already controversial, as Ortiz appeared to head butt Mayweather intentionally, leading Cortez to take a point away from him. After the head butt, Ortiz went to Mayweather and gave him a kiss on the cheek.

Seconds later they were in the centre of the ring ready to resume action when two punches ended it quickly.

“I took the break by the referee and I obeyed exactly as I was told,” Ortiz said. “And then, boom, he blindsided me.”

Mayweather was winning the fight through three rounds, dominating with speed and landing good right hands to the head of Ortiz. He won all three rounds on two ringside scorecards, and two of three on the third.

Ortiz picked up the pace in the fourth round, trying desperately to get inside Mayweather’s vaunted defence. He did on occasion and was having a better round when, late in the round, he appeared to intentionally head butt Mayweather in frustration as the two fought in Mayweather’s corner.

“He did something dirty when it was his corner who said I was dirty,” Mayweather said. “But I won the fight.”

Mayweather later engaged in a verbal confrontation with HBO announcer Larry Merchant, calling him a name at one point and drawing a pointed response from the 80-year-old broadcaster, who said he would thrash the boxer if he “was 50 years younger.”

While Ortiz claimed he was caught by a punch that came before Cortez ruled the fighters to continue, the referee said Mayweather did nothing wrong.

“Time was in, the fighter needed to keep his guard up. Mayweather did nothing illegal,” Cortez said.

Mayweather, a 5-1 favourite in the fight against a champion 10 years younger, had vowed to go right after Ortiz and give the fans who bought the pay-per-view card at home an exciting fight. He mostly delivered on that promise, landing some good right hands in the early rounds and winning exchanges with his quickness.

Ringside punch stats reflected his dominance, showing Mayweather landing 73 of 208 punches to just 26 of 148 for Ortiz. Mayweather consistently beat Ortiz to the punch, and his experience and hand speed appeared to be the difference.

But he hadn’t really hurt Ortiz and took some punches himself in the fourth round as Ortiz seemed to rally before the head butt touched off the series of events that brought the fight to an end. Ortiz quickly apologized to Mayweather after the head butt, giving him a hug and a kiss on the cheek while Cortez was busy taking a point away from him.

There was another quick hug in the centre of the ring as action was about to resume, followed by the 1-2 combination by Mayweather that put Ortiz on his rear. Ortiz tried to get up, but was still on his knees when the fight was waved to a close.

“There’s two ways to look at it but as far as I was concerned I came here to entertain the fans and I think they were entertained,” Ortiz said. “There was a miscommunication with the referee but nobody is perfect and this was a learning experience.”

Mayweather made a minimum of US$25 million for his first fight in 16 months, a sum that will likely go up as the pay-per-view receipts are totalled. He could make even more against Manny Pacquiao next May should Pacquiao win his November fight with Juan Manuel Marquez and the two finally agree to fight.

Mayweather remained unbeaten in 42 fights, scoring the knockout he had predicted. Ortiz, who lost his 147-pound title, fell to 29-3-2.

Reports Surface Of Jay-Z’s Secret Son?

It looks like a love child could be one of J’s 99 problems. Although his wife Beyonce’s pregnancy will make him the most famous daddy in hip hop, rumors are circulating that the 41-year old already has a “secret son.” No, he didn’t pull an “Arnold,” but allegedly fathered a child nine years ago with Trinidad model Shenelle Scott, long before Bebe was his lady.

The report courtesy of Star Magazine reads more like an episode of Maury. Malik Sayeed believed he was the father of Shenelle’s baby, but took a paternity test at the advice of friends who had seen her hangin’ around with the rap star. “Everyone knew she was sleeping around and sleeping with Jay,” Malik’s father told Star. “There was a good chance it was his.” Malik got the test results back two weeks later, which revealed that the child was not his. But this was no time for the patented ‘Not-The-Father’ Dance. He immediately suspected Jay-Z, to whom the child bears an apparently striking resemblance.

But according to the source, Hova didn’t leave his kin out to dry. He apparently pays child support, as well as a lil something extra. “Shenelle told me that Jay-Z gave her $1 million to keep her mouth shut,” Malik’s father explained. “[She] took the money and bought herself a really nice house in Trinidad that the whole family lives in now.” So at least it sounds like a sorta happy ending at the end of this, right? At least for Malik and Shenelle. Not so much for Jay-Z and Beyonce, we’d imagine. The tale of the nine-year-old son would put his conception right around the time she and Jay-Z first began dating. This would understandably bring some friction to the Z household. Unless of course another one of Jay-Z’s problems is tabloids making up BS stories about him. In which case it’s probably all good in their hood.

Denroy Morgan Arrested : Reggae Star Questioning Leads Cops To 310 Pounds Of Marijuana

Police uncovered more than 300 pounds of marijuana in the Bronx on Wednesday, a discovery that led to the arrest of two men — including former reggae artist Denroy Morgan.

The 66-year old, Jamaican-born Morgan came under investigation after he was seen leaving a building in the Soundview neighborhood of the Bronx, carrying what appeared to be a brick of marijuana.
Detectives then pulled Morgan over for running through a stop sign and not wearing his seatbelt. Officers detected the smell of marijuana coming from the car and after questioning, Morgan admitted to carrying marijuana in the trunk of his car. 25 pounds were found.

Officers later stopped Wayne Swavy, 46, after he was spotted leaving the same building on 1122 Taylor Avenue with a 16 pound bundle of marijuana. Police stopped his car and also charged him for failing to wear a seatbelt.

Police gained a search warrant and investigated the building, which led police to find over 310 pounds of marijuana, which is estimated to have a street value between $140,000 to $350,000.

Morgan’s music became popular after his 1981 single, “I’ll Do Anything for You,” was released.

Snoop Dogg to become new Yahoo! CEO?

Rapper Snoop Dogg says he is taking over as the new CEO of Yahoo!. But is it fo shizzle?

Carol Bartz was recently fired from her post as CEO of the online portal and the company’s Chief Financial Officer Tim Morse was named interim CEO. After hearing the news, Snoop Dogg Tweeted: “Im takn over as tha CEO of Yahoo. Need sum of tha Snoop Dogg content ya digg. Nuff Said.”

A message posted by a Twitter account said to be Morse’s and named @NewCEOofYahoo later read: “Haha Snoop Dog, sorry that position is already filled I enjoy listening to your music on @Yahoo_Music available @music.yahoo.com.

Yahoo! has not verified the authenticity of the Twitter username.

Snoop Dogg, a popular southern California hip hop performer, continued joking about the matter, later Tweeting: “My name is alread raisn tha stock price of Yahoo uhearme!! Bout to call a board meeting!”

The rapper rose to fame in the 1990s and is known for hits such as “Who Am I? (What’s My Name?),” “Gin and Juice” as well as his collaborations with Dr. Dre, namely the 1993 hit “Nuthin’ but a ‘G’ Thang.”

Snoop Dogg is a popular figure in mainstream pop culture and has also appeared in numerous movies and television shows, such as “The L Word,” “Weeds” and “90210.” He and his family also starred in the E! reality show, “Snoop Dogg’s Father Hood.”

The rapper has often released music that relates to popular topics – he recorded a song that pays tribute to Anna Paquin’s character Sookie Stackhouse from the R-rated HBO vampire series “True Blood.” In December 2010, he released a track called “WET” in honor of the UK’s Prince William and Kate Middleton, who wed in April.

Eddie Murphy To Host Academy Awards Solo

In the tradition of Bob Hope and Johnny Carson, and later Billy Crystal, Steve Martin and Whoopi Goldberg, Oscar is going back to its comedic roots with Eddie Murphy as host.

The actor and comedian will host the 84th annual Academy Awards, producers Brett Ratner and Don Mischer said Tuesday — and even they were surprised the reclusive star agreed to the gig.

The last comic to host the show alone was Jon Stewart in 2008. A singing, dancing Hugh Jackman took over in 2009, and in recent years, pairs of actors have helmed the show.

This is Murphy’s first time hosting the Academy Awards. He said in a statement that he’s “enormously honored’’ to join the ranks of the aforementioned Oscar hosts.

Ratner and Murphy worked together on their latest film, “Tower Heist,’’ and the director casually floated the notion of hosting the Oscars by the star.

“And Eddie said, `Wow, that would be a brilliant idea for you and me to do the Oscars together,’’’ Ratner recalled.

“I was like, `Are you serious?’’’ Ratner said in an interview. He called Mischer, his co-producer, who immediately warned him not to get his hopes up.

“I said, `Not a chance,’’’ the veteran TV director and producer said. “Everybody wants Eddie Murphy. He’s a comedic genius, he’s a brilliant impersonator. He’s just the kind of guy who would make any television show wonderful. So many times through the years I’ve tried to get Eddie Murphy to agree to come be on a show, and generally he kind of stays to himself and has not been interested in it.’’

Murphy made a rare TV appearance in April on the inaugural Comedy Awards, which Mischer produced, when the 50-year-old entertainer accepted the Comedy Icon award.

By contrast, when Murphy was nominated for an Oscar for 2006’s “Dreamgirls,’’ he did very few interviews and reportedly left the ceremony as soon as his category was announced. (Alan Arkin won for “Little Miss Sunshine.’’)

“I think that Eddie probably gave this serious consideration because of the experience he did have with Brett (on “Tower Heist),’’ Mischer said. “When we did decide to ask him, I think Eddie felt secure with Brett.’’

Ratner called Murphy “one of the greatest and most influential live performers ever’’ and cited him as an inspiration for his filmmaking career.

“‘Rush Hour’ exists because of Eddie Murphy,’’ Ratner said. “Chris Tucker was to 12-year-old kids when I was doing `Rush Hour’ what Eddie Murphy was to me when I was 12. I have such love and idolize the guy.’’

Usain Bolt, Jamaica Set World Record: 4 X 100 Team Set Record

South Korea — In one whirlwind week, Usain Bolt turned the biggest disappointment of his career into another golden show capped with a world record even he believed was not within him this year.

After opening with a false start in 100 final last Sunday, Usain Bolt again produced the amazing in his closing race of the world championships – anchoring Jamaica to a world record in the 4×100-meter relay.

When the first three runners passed the baton, Bolt seized the moment.

“I said, ‘Why not give my all.’ I kept saying: ‘I can do this. I can do this,'” he said.

And when Bolt is convinced, the clock usually obliges.

Fittingly, Jamaica’s yellow-green-and-black flag was the last one rising into the night over Daegu Stadium, and Bolt spread his giant arms wide to soak in the occasion.

“For me, it was just to go out there fast,” Bolt said. “We did just that.”

One day after winning gold in the 200, Bolt was devastating down the home stretch of the relay and threw his yellow-clad chest across the line for a time of 37.04 seconds – the only world record in nine days of competition.

“This record was a great achievement,” Bolt said. “I finished the championships on a good note so I’m proud of myself.”

There was none of the performance anxiety that pushed him into a false start in the 100, only a sheer release of power as he coasted down the stretch for an overwhelming win over France and Saint Kitts and Nevis.

He came looking for the same three gold medals he won at the 2008 Beijing Olympics and 2009 world championships but left with only two and a world record.

The United States was out of it because of a botched exchange, but no one could have gotten close to a Jamaican team anchored by Bolt.

Ahead of the race, Bolt was already slapping the “JAM” on his bib in pride, and in a season where he was far from his best, he came through with a world record.

He got all the help he needed from his three teammates – a lightning start from Nesta Carter and a good handover to Michael Frater before Jamaica’s golden duo was up. Yohan Blake, the 100 champion in Bolt’s absence, powered through the final bend, with Bolt already getting his giant stride going before he took the baton.

Even Carter had no idea the team could do it.

“We weren’t really going out to break the world record,” he said.

Without the injured Asafa Powell, Bolt anchored the team for the first time in a major competition since he took the world by storm at the Beijing Olympics three years ago.

Running with the determination of a record beater, he gritted his teeth over the final meters, crossed the line and threw the glittering purple baton high in the air once he realized the team’s 3-year-old record of 37.10 was gone.

All through the year, Bolt had said that times were not his priority and he never came close to his record best – until Sunday. After he saw Blake speeding toward him, he suddenly realized he could start dreaming about a record again.

“When I saw the first three legs, I said, ‘Anything is possible,’ Bolt said. “I ran my ultimate best.”

Seconds later, the showman took over again. He started dancing to the delight of the 45,000 crowd at Daegu Stadium, which had to wait until the last second to finally see a world record.

In the blur of Bolt’s speed and antics, it was almost overlooked that Blake also left with two gold medals and a world record.

On a final day of seven finals, one silver medal also stood out.

Caster Semenya failed to defend her 800 title, faltering late down the finishing straight to allow Mariya Savinova of Russia get the gold. Silver, however, was better than many expected as the South African showed glimpses of her powerful running that made her the dominating athlete over the distance two years ago, before a gender controversy sidelined her for a year.

“I achieved what I wanted, which was to get back to the podium,” the 20-year-old Semenya said. “I don’t talk about the past. I’m still young and I have to focus on the future.”

Allyson Felix added another gold to bring her collection of titles to a women’s record eight over four championships. The American ran the second leg of the winning 4×100 relay, one day after getting gold in the 4×400, too.

With Christian Taylor winning the triple jump, it left the United States at the top of medal standings with 12 gold and 25 overall.

Tatyana Lysenko won the women’s hammer throw, putting Russia in second place of the standings with nine gold and 19 medals overall.

Britain got some good news ahead of next year’s London Olympics, with Mo Farah holding off Bernard Lagat of the U.S. to win the men’s 5,000. Farah also won silver in the 10,000 last weekend.

It was about the only middle and long distance race that went wrong for Kenya.

From the starting gun to Sunday’s last day, Kenya dominated. On Sunday morning, Abel Kirui led teammate Vincent Kipruto to yet another 1-2 finish in the men’s marathon.

The defending champion won by the biggest margin in championship history, and after finishing the race in 2:07:38, he had to wait 2:28 to welcome Kipruto in a sweaty embrace.

It left Kenya with seven gold and 17 medals overall for third place in the standings.

“This is history,” Kirui said. “It is also good (for) the country. It is good for my family. It is great.”

Melanie Brown Adds a Baby Girl To Crib!

Mel B, the artist formerly known as Scary Spice, gave birth to a baby girl Thursday night in Los Angeles.

The ex-Spice Girls singer, along with husband Stephen Belafonte, announced the news early Friday. “Finally our baby arrives,” she said on Twitter. “Stephen nearly passed out, Phoenix screamed, I laughed so hard the baby popped out!!! She is just sooo amazing!!”

The singer’s rep confirmed the news with PEOPLE, adding that “both mum and baby are happy, healthy and doing well.” The baby girl’s name has not been revealed.

This is the first child for the couple, who married in 2007. Brown is mom to Phoenix, 12, from a previous marriage, and 4-year-old Angel, whose father is actor Eddie Murphy.

Two of Brown’s fellow Spice Girls gave birth recently, Victoria Beckham’s daughter Harper, 7 weeks, and Emma Bunton’s son Tate, 4 months.

In recent years, Brown participated in a 2007-08 reunion with the Spice Girls and placed second during the fifth season (2007) of “Dancing With the Stars.” His partner, Maksim Chmerkovskiy, offered his congrats already via Twitter: “Wishing your newborn all the health and happiness!”

Usain Bolt Wins 200m at 2011 World Championships in 20.31 seconds!

DI MAN GIFTED.

The defending champion and world record holder – who lost his 100m crown on Sunday after a false start – easily took his semi-final in 20.31 seconds.

“I just wanted to show the world I’d got back on my feet,” Bolt told BBC Radio 5 live sports extra.

Jamaica’s Veronica Campbell-Brown stormed to World 200m gold, beating Carmelita Jeter and Allyson Felix.

A blistering start from the 29-year-old left her more fancied rivals trailing, leading favorite Jeter and double world champion Felix off the bend and then holding on as her two American rivals closed to win in a season’s best of 22.22 seconds.

BOLT ON 100m DISQUALIFICATION
“It was my fault, I can’t blame anybody else. The first night I just ran things through my head, trying to figure out where I went wrong, but otherwise I’ve just been sitting, talking to my friends and laughing. I’m not going to blame anybody for anything. He [Yohan Blake] moved a little bit but it was up to me to stay in my blocks. It’s tempting to stay in the blocks for as long as possible but I’m going to try not to”

For the superstitious in Korea it continued the infamous “cover curse” that has dogged those athletes who have been on the front of the daily programme here.

Usain Bolt, Yelena Isinbeyeva and Dayron Robles all lost in disastrous fashion after being featured on the cover, and the organisers’ decision to put both Jeter and Felix on Friday’s programme means that strange sequence continues.

European champion Christophe Lemaitre of France, meanwhile, was the quickest qualifier in the men’s 200m, recording a time of 20.19 – while Briton Christian Malcolm failed to reach the final after finishing fifth in his heat.

Earlier in the week Bolt’s coach Glen Mills insisted the three-time Olympic gold medallist ‘would not change’ his showman-like style – despite criticism suggesting his pre-race antics reflected a lack of focus ahead of the 100m final, where he was disqualified.

And the 200m world record holder did not disappoint, electrifying the crown in Daegu with his traditional exuberant expressions towards those seated in the stadium and watching on television.

“The Koreans are showing me a lot of love,” reflected Bolt on BBC Radio 5 live sports extra.

The Jamaican found himself clear of his opponents by the straight and, glancing left and right, eased through the closing metres to finish ahead of Norway’s Jaysuma Saidy Ndure who crossed in a time of 20.50.

“My race was all about trying to expend as less [sic] energy as possible. That’s what I tried to do,” Bolt added.
200m final line-up:

20.17 – Christophe Lemaitre (FRA)
20.31 – Usain Bolt (JAM)
20.32 – Nickel Ashmeade (JAM)
20.37 – Walter Dix (USA)
20.50 – Jaysuma Ndure (NOR)
20.52 – Alonso Edward (PAN)
20.54 – Bruno de Barros (BRA)
20.56 – Rondel Sorrillo (TRI)

American Walter Dix won the third semi-final in 20.37 to qualify fourth quickest, with Nickel Ashmeade of Jamaica just ahead with a time of 20.32.

Bolt set new world record times at the 2008 Beijing Olympics and the 2009 World Championships in Berlin, but played down hopes of a repeat performance in Daegu.

“There won’t be anything special at this championships because there is too much breeze in this stadium. I know what shape I’m in at the moment,” reflected Bolt.

The 200m final will take place at 1320 BST on Saturday
