Meteor lights up sky in South Africa (21st 2009)

This amazing video, taken from CCTV footage, shows a meteor ( at least that’s what they say it was) lighting up the sky over South Africa the weekend before last.

One resident described the sight to Eyewitness News in South Africa as “like an orange stripe in the sky, followed by a very bright explosion where the sky lit up as if it was daytime.”

As of last week, scientists were still looking for where the meteor may have landed, according to the Telegraph.
