Reggie Bush has announced that he has forfeited the 2005 Heisman Trophy, according to Jason La Canfora of NFL.com.
Adam Schefter reports that Bush said in a statement, “”I have made the difficult decision to forfeit my title as Heisman winner of 2005.”
USC’s football program was sanctioned by the NCAA in June, and the school removed Bush’s trophy after hiring a new athletic director.
Former University of Texas quarterback Vince Young, who finished second in the 2005 Heisman voting and now plays for the Tennessee Titans, said on Monday that he would “definitely” accept the trophy if the Heisman Trust awarded it to him.
