Rapper Kanye West showed his Christmas spirit over the weekend, when he showed up at the Los Angeles Mission to help volunteer.
According to sources, the rapper and his girlfriend Amber Rose joined a group of volunteers who helped served lunch to the homeless on Saturday (December 26). Needless to say, the homeless were a little surprised.
“It’s just important [to give back] when you’re very blessed,” he told the website.
West showed up ready to work. As soon as he got there, he went straight for the kitchen, put on a apron and reported for serving duty.
“[It’s nice] to spread your blessings and take time out, especially during the holidays, to appreciate people who never get that appreciation,” West said. “It makes me feel really good to come out here, [with] my family, and I just thank ya’ll [the Los Angeles Mission] for allowing us to be apart of this.”
The Los Angeles Mission is a non-profit organization helping the homeless in the city’s downtown Skid Row district for more than 70 years. In addition to food and shelter, they offer employment, transitional services and rehabilitation to those struggling with substance abuse.
Good Job Kanye and Amber!
