Carrie Mullings

Carrie Mullings is an On Air Radio Personality, an ambassador of Reggae music and in particular, pioneers Canadian reggae artistes and their music. Introduced to the business by her father, the dearly departed Karl Mullings, who was the chief pioneer of the explosion of the Jamaica to Canada musical explosion, who shared his gift with Carrie and her younger sister, talented Juno nominee, Tanya Mullings—Carrie’s life changed in 2003 when she embraced her heritage by using her universal consciousness of reggae music to transform her passion for the genre of music into her now life-long fulfilling career. Carrie was also influenced by the likes of reggae icons such as Jackie Mittoo, Jo-Jo Bennett, Pat Arthur, Lloyd Lovindeer, and Glen Ricketts. As a child, it was commonplace for her to see Jamaican musical giants in her home on any given day; they influenced her commitment.
In 2003, she joined the long running Caribbean Crucible on Toronto’s CHRY 105.5 FM where her vibrant personality captured listeners’ hearts and enriched their minds with her trademark dose of roots, reality, and culture. This quickly led to the first of many guest appearances at local reggae events as a confident Mistress of Ceremonies. Promoters took notice and Carrie’s natural grace took shape in other ways, reporting the latest reggae news and reviews to radio stations across Canada and the US.
Carrie also boasts hosting an ALL Canadian reggae show for over 5 years. She respects the homegrown music so much that she plays, promotes and celebrates Canadian reggae by producing a charting system for Canadian artists and producers to many parts of the world including Canada, US, Jamaica, Germany, Italy, Portugal, Spain, Israel, Sierra Leone (Africa), Singapore, England, and France.
Ms. Mullings has been the recipient of multiple achievement awards throughout her career. She is the 2010 Winner of the Top Female DJ/Ambassador of Canadian Reggae award; the 2009 Reggae Music Achievement Award (RMAA) winner for Best Radio DJ of the Year and Canadian Reggae Music Award (CRMA) winner for Top Radio DJ. She was voted the best local Jamaican Reggae Radio Personality in Toronto by Jamaicans.com for 2010. Carrie has recently been invited by Caras to take the Chair position on the Reggae Committee for the 40th Anniversary of the JUNO’s. Articles celebrating her work have been featured in the Toronto Star, Splash Magazine, Canada Extra, The Jamaican Gleaner, Earshot Magazine, Caribbean Camera and ReggaeXclusive.
