Beyonce is in talks to play the late great Eartha Kitt in a new film. After portraying Etta James in Cadillac Records and emulating Diana Ross in Dreamgirls, the singer/actress is hoping to complete a trilogy of diva roles by taking on original Catwoman Kitt on the big screen. If it does, it’ll just fall into place. She says, “I was going to do a film about Eartha Kitt. It’s a great story, but I don’t know if it’s still happening. “If it does, it’ll just fall into place.” Mrs. Kitt died on Christmas Day (25Dec08) after losing her battle with colon cancer, at the age of 81. She will be missed. After getting in shape for her wedding to husband Josh Duhamel earlier this year, pop star Fergie is clearly pleased with her toned physique. Stepping out in Los Angeles over the weekend, the Black Eyed Peas singer showed her new marital status certainly wasn’t going to stop her from flashing that figure. The 34-year-old showed off her svelte shape in a revealing satin playsuit and high-heeled shoe boots as she headed to a recording studio. The singer has already been seen in the black and silver shoe boots already when she debuted them on the red carpet at the X Men Origins: Wolverine premiere last week. Perhaps the shoes are a new design from her Autumn//Winter 2009 collection of her Fergie Footwear collection, which she launched last month. The singer teamed up with American firm Brown Shoe Company to create the Fergie Footwear range, which included four themed collections – Remix, Kickin’ Back, Paparazzi Ready and Glitterati.
The hip-hop group ‘s new album The E.N.D. (Energy Never Dies) is released next month and the quartet are currently rehearsing for their upcoming tour. Fergie said: ‘It’s nice to be back with the guys. We had a break and it is really nice to get back together. ‘I did obviously my album, The Dutchess and I got to film the movie Nine and I got to plan my wedding, get married, go on my honeymoon, all of that and it just felt right to get back with the boys and have a good time.’ 2009 is set to be a dominant year for the singer. As well as her Black Eyed Peas tours and single releases, her role as a prostitute named Saraghina will be seen in the musical movie Nine, which is due for release in November.
But an appeals court quashed it in July last year saying the watchdog acted “arbitrarily” in issuing the fine. Some 90 million viewers saw the incident during the half time show. Jackson was performing alongside Justin Timberlake when he reached for her bra and the “malfunction” occurred.
About 542,000 complaints were received by broadcaster CBS. Now the high court has directed the 3rd US Circuit Court of Appeals in Philadelphia to consider reinstating the fine imposed by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC). The order follows a high court ruling last week that upheld the FCC’s policy that subjects broadcasters to fines against even single uses of swear words on live television. Last year, the appeals court threw out the fine against CBS, saying that as the incident lasted nine-sixteenths of one second, it should have been regarded as “fleeting”. The appeals court said CBS could not be held liable for the acts of Jackson and Timberlake – now that ruling will be reviewed in view of the Supreme Court’s order in the case. Lawyers for CBS had urged the Supreme Court to reject the FCC’s appeal. Boy that’s sure is one expensive nipple!!!
