Eddie Murphy – Oscar nominated actor Eddie Murphy turns 50 years old today!!
Eddie Murphy attended Nickelodeon’s Kid Choice awards last evening (4.2) where he won “Favorite voice from an animated movie”, Eddie decided to make the best of his time on stage by requesting the audience to sing Happy Birthday to him.
No word on how Eddie plans to celebrate his half century celebration but the comedian has previously noted that he’s not the bad boy he use to be. While speaking with Parade magazine two years ago Eddie said,
“The one thing that’s remained consistent is my sense of humor, which has always been unique. But, I’m older than I was and I could never give off whatever I used to give off when, you know, I had on a red leather suit on stage talking s—. I’ll never be that guy again. But, at the same time, I’ve never stopped being that person. It’s just that I’m an adult now.”

An NBA spokesman confirms that the league is investigating Jay-Z’s presence in Kentucky’s locker room after the Wildcats clinched a Final Four berth.
The rapper visited the players after their victory over North Carolina on Sunday at the Prudential Center in Newark, N.J, home of the Nets. Jay-Z is a part-owner of the team and attended the Nets’ 120-116 loss at New York on Wednesday.
NBA rules prohibit team personnel from having contact with players who are not yet draft eligible, and spokesman Tim Frank told the Associated Press the league is looking into it.
The investigation was first reported by CBSSports.com.
Another big music festival is on the way. Live on the Waterfront, a four-day musical extravaganza of truly Jamaican music, is aiming to set Pier One in Montego Bay alight from April 22-25.
Western Jamaica already has two major festivals – Reggae Sumfest and the Jazz Festival – on its social/entertainment calendar. Each of those events features local and international acts and attracts thousands of visitors and locals alike each year, but, according to the organisers of this latest addition to the line-up of festivals, Live on the Waterfront aims to use purely Jamaican music to attract visitors to Jamaica.
“The inspiration was to bring back a festival to the line-up that was truly Jamaican, something that imports more visitors than entertainers,” said Jason Russell of Live Entertainment, the company that is staging the festival.

Live Entertainment comprises of Russell, Richard Bennett, more popularly known as Charlie Chaplin; and Dwight Crawford.
So come April 22, Live on the Waterfront opens up with its Party Night with Bryon Lee and the Dragonaires and Kurt Riley. Reggae Night follows on April 23 and features performers including Jah Cure, Etana, Queen Ifrica, Tony Rebel, Tarrus Riley, Charlie Chaplin, Brigadier Jerry and Josey Wales among others.
“We’re mixing the old and the new to keep it authentic,” Russell says.
On Dancehall Night, April 24, entertainers like Bounty Killer, Sizzla, I-Octane, Lady Saw, Busy Signal, Agent Sasco (Assassin), Genius, Khago, and Chino, are expected to thrill the thousands expected to show up for the event.
The festival concludes on April 25 with Gospel Night when gospel music fans can expect to receive spiritual fulfilment from the likes of Stitchie, Carlene Davis, Sandra Brooks, Goddy Goddy, DJ Nicolas, Prodigal Son and Ryan Berry. Some local bands and gospel artistes are also expected to perform on the night.
Expecting 30,000 patrons
As this is the inaugural year of the event, Russell believes the line-ups will pull in an estimated 30,000 patrons over the four nights, even though there are indicators that perhaps as many as 40,000 could be in attendance. The festival coincides with the staging of the CARIFTA Games and most of the hotels in Montego Bay are already reporting that there will be a 100 per cent occupancy during that weekend.
Russell expects that many of the visitors who will be on the island for the regional track and field meet will be attending the festival.
He says he expects the festival to be a success and a portion of the proceeds are to be used to spur a return to live music within the wider Jamaican society.
Russell explains that a foundation to be called Live Alive is to be set up through which much-needed funds will be distributed to schools, churches, children’s homes and similar institutions that will use the money to develop programmes to teach children to play instruments and read music.
“Within five years we expect this programme to have a major impact on live music in Jamaica,” Russell said.

The sexy Rihanna hits the cover of the new issue of Rolling Stone, wearing spray-on shorts and giving the magazine an inside look at some of her more dirty habits.
“I like to take charge, but I love to be submissive,” she tells the magazine. “Being submissive in the bedroom is really fun. You get to be a little lady, to have somebody be macho and in charge of your s**t. That’s sexy to me. I work a lot, and I have to make a lot of executive decisions, so when it comes to being intimate, I like to feel like I’m somebody’s girl.”
And she doesn’t mind being, well, coerced into that submission. “I like to be spanked. Being tied up is fun. I like to keep it spontaneous. Sometimes whips and chains can be overly planned – you gotta stop, get the whip from the drawer downstairs… I’d rather have him use his hands.”
Unfortunately, Rihanna says, she hasn’t been with anyone since she broke up with LA Dodgers star Matt Kemp in December. It’s disappointing, she says, especially “being in this body,” but she does have ways to cope with it.
“When you’re not with the person you want to be intimate with, a picture is the next best thing. Well, Skype is safer. But a picture lasts a long time. When you’re alone, and those horny moments come up, pictures can be very handy.”
Some photos, though, she hasn’t received in a while, either. “I haven’t gotten a d*ck picture in a long time. I think people are a little afraid. It can turn out bad.”

Beyonce will no longer be managed by her father, Mathew Knowles, her publicist said Monday.
The Grammy-winning singer and her father have parted ways “on a business level,” publicist Yvette Noel-Schure told The Associated Press in a statement.
“I am grateful for everything he has taught me,” Beyonce said in the statement. “I grew up watching both he and my mother manage and own their own businesses. They were hardworking entrepreneurs and I will continue to follow in their footsteps.”
She didn’t say what led to the split, but her father said in a separate statement to the AP late Monday that the decision was mutual.
Knowles has managed his daughter since she debuted as a teen in the multiplatinum-selling group Destiny’s Child in the late 1990s and throughout her superstar career as a solo artist.
Knowles oversaw all aspects of Beyonce, from music to movies to fashion and more. Her career includes 16 Grammy awards, top-grossing movies “Dreamgirls” and “Obsessed,” fashion ventures and lucrative endorsements.
The 29-year-old has released three multiplatinum albums – “Dangerously In Love,” “B’Day” and “I Am … Sasha Fierce” – and has 12 Top 10 hits on Billboard’s Hot 100 chart, including five No. 1s. Destiny’s Child had 11 Top 10 hits on the Hot 100 chart and six No. 1s.
During Beyonce’s teen years in Houston, Knowles prepped her, her friend Kelly Rowland and two others for a rising career as an R&B girl group, and Destiny’s Child released its self-titled debut in 1998. Their sophomore album, “The Writing’s On the Wall,” came a year later and garnered multiple hits and two Grammys, but the success also shook up the band and Destiny’s Child became a trio with Beyonce, Rowland and Michelle Williams.
The three also released solo albums, all managed by Knowles. He launched his own label, World Music Entertainment, via Columbia Records, a division of Sony Music.
Rowland parted with Knowles as her manager in 2009 and Williams followed a year later.
In the statement, Beyonce stressed her devotion to her father on a personal level.
“He is my father for life and I love my dad dearly. I am grateful for everything he has taught me,” Beyonce said.
Knowles also got personal in his statement.
“Business is business and family is family. I love my daughter and am very proud of who she is and all that she has achieved. I look forward to her continued great success,” he said.
Knowles and Beyonce’s mother, Tina, divorced in 2009 after 29 years of marriage. Tina Knowles worked as a stylist for Destiny’s Child and continues to style her daughter. Together they launched a clothing line, House of Dereon.
Noel-Schure didn’t comment on who Beyonce’s new manager would be.
Knowles said his plans include focusing on his label’s work in gospel and inspirational music, where he said the company has made a “tremendous investment.”

NEW YORK — Urban radio and TV personality DJ Megatron, who built a career at hip-hop and R&B radio stations from Philadelphia to Boston and told viewers of a popular music TV show “What’s Good,” was shot to death early Sunday, his manager and police said.
The occasional BET television segment host was killed while heading to a store near his home on New York City’s Staten Island around 2 a.m., said his manager Justin Kirkland, known as J. Smoove.
The 32-year-old deejay, born Corey McGriff, was found dead with a gunshot wound to his chest, police said. No arrests had been made.
His manager said friends and relatives had no idea why anyone might have attacked a deejay known for his upbeat, amiable attitude.
“He probably had one of the best personalities around . super-positive, happy all the time,” Kirkland said.
Rising to the on-air ranks after starting as an intern, DJ Megatron began his career at New York’s WKRS-FM, better known as Kiss FM, where deejays remembered him on the air and online Sunday.
He also worked at what was then Boston’s Hot 97.7, or WBOT-FM, and at Philadelphia’s The Beat, or WPHI-FM, according to a bio on his MySpace site.
In recent years, he worked on BET’s “106 & Park” music countdown series, mainly in a role interacting with its live audience, the Viacom Inc.-owned network said. But he also did some on-camera work for the show and BET’s website, including “What’s Good” spots that took him onto the streets to ask bystanders about topics ranging from sports to “The Five Elements of Hip-Hop.”
“He will truly be missed,” the network said in a statement extending condolences to his family.
The deejay, sometimes known as Mega or Mega McGriff, also appeared in movies including 2005’s “State Property 2,” starring Roc-A-Fella Records co-founder Damon Dash and rappers Beanie Sigel and N.O.R.E., formerly Noreaga.
A father of three, DJ Megatron also devoted time to charitable events on Staten Island, his manager said.

Police were on high alert in downtown Kingston yesterday following the stoning of the Denham Town Police Station by a small group of protesters who accused members of the constabulary of ‘abusing’ Leighton ‘Livity’ Coke, the brother of former Tivoli Gardens strongman Christopher ‘Dudus’ Coke.
No serious damage was reported but police at the station warned that they would continue to be on alert at all times and would act against anyone who attempted to harm members of the constabulary.
The protesting residents claimed that for the past two weeks family members have been barred from visiting Coke, who has been in custody since last year. “We hear that he is not being fed and that he needs medical attention,” said a woman who claimed that she is family member of Coke.
Another woman said she was using the opportunity to call on the human rights groups “to look into the matter”.
Livity Coke is facing charges of shooting with intent, illegal possession of a firearm and wearing a Jamaica Defence Force uniform.
He is accused of firing at the security forces during their incursion into Tivoli Gardens to serve an arrest warrant on his brother Dudus in May last year.
